Short list of project ideas
Post on Slack, #general channel.
Note that I have done a little brainstorming about project ideas. Feel free to borrow and/or adapt ideas from that list. I'll probably add to the list between now and Wednesday as I think of new ideas.
This assignment is the first step in developing a project plan for the rest of the term. The biggest goal here is for you to identify a project that will give you a chance to stretch your skills, learn new things, and produce a small product that you can show off with pride.
What to do
- Identify 3 or 4 projects your team would be interested in developing this term.
- For each project, give it a very short title (2-5 words) and a one-sentence description (assuming the title doesn't do the job all on its own).
For two of the projects, include a more detailed discussion, including:
- Short list of the major features. (Be specific. For example, this is too vague: "analyze user's spending habits"; this is better: "show a chart of percentage expenses by expense category".)
- Aspects of the project that you think will be most challenging, or that you worry you won't be able to pull off.
- Brief notes about technologies or techniques you especially hope to learn via this project (e.g., iOS app development using SwiftUI; web front-end development using React; server-side development in Java; deployment to AWS; etc.)
Keep this pretty compact. I'll give you an opportunity very soon to expand on your chosen ideas with a more detailed discussion and analysis.
- Format the above nicely for Slack. (Boldfaced headings, etc. You can write your writeup in markdown for Slack.)
