Poster mockup
Create a mockup of your poster that's viewable with a computer. I recommend that you use a slide-making tool for this. Powerpoint, Keynote, and Google Slides all work fine for this. Your goal should be to create something detailed enough that we can have a productive feedback discussion of your poster on Monday, Oct 28 during class.
Here's some general info about CS comps posters.
What makes a good mockup?
- Gives audience a clear idea of the proposed poster layout and the rough organization of content.
- Does not try to be a complete poster. No need to put all the words in or anything. For example, a rectangle on your poster might just have the words "diagram of web architecture goes here" or "example of encryption process" or something like that in place of the actual intended content.
- Detailed enough that audience can easily understand your expository structure, and imagine what the reading experience would be like for somebody walking up to your poster for the first time.
- Provides enough info to enable audience to comment on the style: colors, backgrounds, fonts and font sizes, etc.
To submit
- Put your document(s) in a folder named "poster" in one teammate's git repository.
- Your document may, if you wish, just be a link to an online document to which I have access.
To prep for Monday
Make sure your poster document is committed at least 30 minutes before class. Be prepared to answer questions in front of the class. I will run the discussion, but we'll typically have some back-and-forth between you and everybody else as we tell you what we like about your ideas, what we find confusing, suggestions we might have, etc.
