Me
My office phone number is 663-4364, my home number is 663-7123, and my office hours are: Monday 2A, Tuesday 2:00-3:00, Wednesday 2A, and Friday 5A. I am trying to protect my Thursdays for research and attending kindergarten, so if you can, try to hit me up for help on other days.
The Book
The textbook for this class is Modern Operating Systems, Andrew S. Tanenbaum, Prentice Hall, 1992. We'll go straight through chapters 1-6, and then hit as much of the rest of the book as we can while messing around with Linux and NeXTStep.
Your Grade
Your grade in the course will be determined by your performance on a takehome midterm (30%), a takehome final (30%), and homework and programming projects (40%).
Working Together
You may work together on homework and programming projects, but not on exams.
