The instructor and the grader

My name is Jeff Ondich, my office is CMC327, my e-mail address is jondich@carleton.edu, and my phone number is x4364 (home: 663-7123). My office hours are Monday 2A, Tuesday 9:45-10:45, Wednesday 5A, and Friday 2A. I am often in my office, however, and you are welcome to drop by any time you can find me.

The grader for the class is Beck Hollis, a CS major, softball player, and all-around wonderful person. She will do some of the grading, respond to questions on the course Caucus conference, and hold help sessions before big assignments are due. Her e-mail address is hollisr@carleton.edu.

Books

Computer Science Illuminated, by Nell Dale and John Lewis. This is a general "breadth-first" text on computer science. It introduces many of the topics we will discuss this term, despite the fact that it does not focus specifically on networks.

The Web Wizard's Guide to PHP, by David A. Lash. We'll use this book later in the term when you do some programming to create dynamic web pages.

Caucus

There is a Caucus conference devoted to this class. It's called "CS107 Spring 2003". If you need help using Caucus, let me know.

Grades

Your grade will come from homework (30%), two exams (25% each), and a final project (20%).
